Space for energy

This year's competition focuses on harnessing space technology for energy solutions. Space plays a crucial role in managing energy resources, which has major consequences for the economy, the environment and society. Applications include energy efficient systems, advanced materials, and energy storage technology. ESA invites ideas that focus on hardware and software in the energy sector, with a strong link to energy efficiency.

Who can participate?

The competition is open to Dutch companies or individuals. Participants from a variety of backgrounds are welcome, including energy experts, space enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and team efforts between these fields are encouraged. Connecting space technology with energy challenges requires knowledge of both fields. Collaboration with space or non-space partners can help with this. If you are new to space travel, you can take inspiration from the ESA patent portfolio.
