This week, Governor Kathy Hochul and Minister Liesje Schreinemacher for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation signed a Memorandum of Understanding during the semiconductor forum at the NY CREATES Albany Nano Complex. This happened in the presence of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.
The signing marks the start of a strategic collaboration focused on the latest generation of semiconductors, with a special focus on sustainable chip production and talent development. The delegation also visited NY CREATES, a technology hub for innovation and semiconductors, and the IBM Research Center.
A business delegation of almost 30 companies and institutes, led by our figurehead, Marc Hendrikse and VNO-NCW chairman Ingrid Thijssen, made a trip through Connecticut, New York and Ontario. Their mission was clear: to expand networks, share knowledge and pave the way for future collaborations, underscoring the industry's commitment to progress.
The mission highlights the potential of Dutch expertise in the semiconductor industry and integrated photonics, with companies such as ASML, ASM and NXP Semiconductors leading the way to a promising future. Talent development is central to this partnership, with a clear focus on advancing expertise in integrated photonics, chip design, advanced packaging and equipment. These areas are critical to the future of the semiconductor industry and will be key drivers of innovation and growth.
