Integration of Quantum Security
Using simulations, lab experiments, and field demonstrations, QSONET addresses fiber impairments, polarization drift, and photon loss, demonstrating quantum-secure communication systems integrated with classical infrastructure. TU/e and KPN, along with industry partners, will execute the project.
Co-Propagation of optical and quantum entangled signals
The project will focus on developing a quantum-secure network infrastructure for production, enabling secure 1550 nm entanglement distribution and co-propagation with classical signals. This infrastructure will be tested over metropolitan distances up to 100 km to ensure stability and scalability in production environments.
Foundation for Quantum Internet
The outcomes of QSONET will lay the foundation for further development of the quantum internet within existing telecom infrastructure, supporting the societal need for secure, quantum-resilient communication systems. Key performance metrics, such as entanglement fidelity, photon loss, and uptime, will be established to support large-scale practical deployment.
