After a very successful KIEM HighTech call in 2024, the KIEM HighTech 2025 subsidy scheme will start this year. With the KIEM HighTech subsidy scheme, Holland High Tech and Regieorgaan SIA stimulate technological innovation through collaboration between researchers, SMEs and other practical partners. The second (and last) collection date for KIEM HighTech is on September 30, 2025. Registration for the collection date April 8 is now open.
Background
The Netherlands is facing major social and economic challenges. The high-tech, systems and materials sector plays a crucial role in the urgent transitions that are required for this: the energy transition, the circular transition and the development of digitalisation and key technologies.
The VISION 2030 of Holland High Tech, the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda Key Technologies and the prioritised technological focus areas of the National Technology Strategy (NTS) published by the Ministry of Economic Affairs are the important frameworks for the KIEM HighTech scheme.
Purpose KIEM HighTech
The aim of KIEM HighTech is to (exploratory) investigate new practical questions by means of practice-oriented research activities. These research activities are carried out by a network of knowledge institutions and practical partners (companies). Together with Holland High Tech, the SIA Governing Body stimulates with this scheme both network formation and the exploration of practical questions that can be the seed for a follow-up project or a technological innovation.
Thematic framework
An application is suitable for KIEM HighTech if it contributes to the technology development and/or improvement within at least one of the nine innovation domains that are central to this KIEM scheme. The innovation domains can largely be related to the prioritized key technologies of the National Technology Strategy and the key technologies that fit the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda Key Technologies. An explanation of the innovation domains can be found in the call for proposals.
Budget
The scheme is being jointly financed by the SIA Governing Body and Holland High Tech. The subsidy ceiling for this call for proposals is €2,706,908. The maximum funding per application is €40,000. A maximum of 67 applications are expected to be awarded within this call.
