The new HTSM call 2024, in collaboration with NWO, is aimed at stimulating fundamental and application-oriented research in the field of High Tech Systems and Materials in the Netherlands. The available budget consists of a Holland High Tech contribution of 5 million euros and a contribution from NWO of 2.5 million euros with a duration of 6 years for projects. The deadline for submitting applications was October 10, 2024.
Stimulate hightech research
The HTSM program is in line with our technological roadmaps and the National Technology Strategy (NTS). This strategy identifies key technologies that are needed in the upcoming transitions, such as the energy transition, the circular transition and the development of digitalization. This HTSM call stimulates research in the field of High Tech Systems and Materials in the Netherlands, in order to strengthen and expand the knowledge position of high tech in the Netherlands.
Focus on two key technologies
This year the call revolves around two key technologies from the National Technology Strategy. The applications must make an explicit contribution to one of the following themes:
- Energy materials: the focus is on the (further) development of techniques for small-scale heat storage, including in thermochemical materials, phase change materials and via redox heat storage.
- Imaging technologies: the beginning of the imaging chain is central: from sensor/detector to image, in other words: from image acquisition to image reconstruction. The call aims at (further) development of technology(ies) with applications within this chain.
Budget and deadline
The subsidy ceiling for this call for proposals has been increased from €1,800,000 to €2,760,000. The maximum financing per application is €40,000. 32 project applications were submitted in round two. SIA and Holland High Tech (TKI HTSM Foundation on behalf of the High Tech Systems and Materials top sector) jointly finance the scheme.
The deadline for submitting applications was Thursday, October 10, 2024, before 2:00 PM CEST.
Matchmaking
On Tuesday, July 9, NWO organized a matchmaking activity for the HTSM call. Matchmaking aims to bring together and connect researchers from different disciplines and professionals from the public and private domain, in order to arrive at innovative research proposals. Participation in these activities is recommended, but not mandatory.
