Dual-use ecosystems: from SDIR to strategic impact
On Monday 6 October, the conference Dual-Use Ecosystems: from SDIR to Strategic Impact will take place at Fort Voordorp, Utrecht. The event is organised by FME, COMMIT and TNO and focuses on accelerating technological applications in both the defence and civilian domains, with the Ministry of Defence as a launching customer for Dutch innovations.
Central themes are three NLD-areas (Netherlands Longterm Development areas) in which the Netherlands has strong expertise: quantum, sensors and intelligent systems. During interactive working sessions, opportunities for collaboration will be explored, working towards a stronger innovation ecosystem that balances security, economy and technology.
The conference stems from the ambition to concretise the SDIR approach (Strategic Defence Innovation Research) and forms the basis for new public-private partnerships towards 2026. The event is intended for companies already doing business with the Dutch Ministry of Defence or aiming to do so.

The programme includes contributions from, among others, Theo Henrar (FME), Rutger Burger (COMMIT), Hendrik-Jan van Veen (TNO) and outgoing State Secretary Gijs Tuinman (Ministry of Defence).
