Tech Needs Discovery Even: Space Needs You (New date: 5 June)
After a successful first edition in March, Tech Needs Discovery returns on 5 June with a new focus and a clear message. Companies outside of space are invited to bring their technologies. Organised by ESA Technology Broker (powered by NL Space Campus and SBIC Noordwijk), in collaboration with Holland High Tech and Hi Delta, this cross-sectoral event connects space actors with innovators from other sectors to jointly tackle technical challenges.
Why is this edition different?
This time, space companies will present their current technical needs. Non-space companies are also invited to respond with ideas, solutions and new perspectives. The aim is to explore how technologies from outside the space sector can be applied in high-performance environments. ESA/ESTEC, 4Mars2Earth and other companies will participate in the event. The first edition proved that space is not as inaccessible as it seems. Now we are asking a new question: can innovations from Earth go to space? This exchange brings new technical and operational requirements, but also new opportunities. Tech Needs Discovery is about finding common ground between sectors and building long-term collaborations.
No space experience is required – we are looking for companies that develop practical technologies that solve problems in smart or demanding environments. Whether your solution improves efficiency, control, precision or safety, it could be exactly what a space company is looking for.
What the space industry is looking for
Current needs include:
- Additive manufacturing (3D printing)
- Modular robotics
- Expertise in engineering and structural design
- Digital innovation, such as software platforms and data systems
- Automotive systems and smart mobility solutions
- Advanced manufacturing technologies
- Smart and functional materials
If your company is active in these sectors, even outside the space industry, this technology may be a good fit.
What to expect on 5 June
The event will include targeted matchmaking and informal networking. It is designed to support non-space innovators who want to explore new applications for their work, and space companies looking for fresh ideas and opportunities. A third edition of Tech Needs Discovery is already planned for September 2025.

Networking activity
This event is a networking activity aimed at promoting networking and knowledge sharing between SMEs through the MIT program of Holland High Tech.
