Atopic dermatitis (eczema) and psoriasis are common chronic skin conditions that significantly affect patients’ physical and psychological well-being. Atopic dermatitis affects up to 20% of children and 10% of adults, while psoriasis impacts around 125 million people worldwide. Both conditions cause discomfort, reduced quality of life, and require intensive treatments, which can lower therapy adherence.

Phlecs’ Blue LED Therapy is a medication- and UV-free treatment for inflammatory skin diseases. Currently applied in hospitals, the therapy uses daily sessions of blue light exposure on the skin. Its effectiveness depends on factors such as skin type, melanin and collagen levels, blood circulation, and hydration, as these influence how deeply the light penetrates the skin.

In this project we aim to develop a sensor system that measures blue light and skin temperature in real time. This system will in the future: Personalize treatment dose for each patient. Optimize therapy duration. Enable dynamic adjustment of treatment plans based on real-time sensor data.
