Early detection of breast cancer is crucial to decrease morbidity and mortality. Current screening tools all have their specific pros and cons. In SERIOUS, we will develop a new ultrasound-based breast scanner.

Impact

Together with Siemens and with the support of OceanZ we will develop a 3D cone-based scanner that features ground-breaking ultrasound techniques boosted by novel physics-informed deep-learning algorithms: ultrafast imaging providing real-time 3D volumetric data, unprecedented resolution and penetration depth, and quantitative imaging for enhanced interpretability. This 3D breast screening technique poses minimal burden on women while providing superior performance over other imaging modalities.
