Whether it is the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Covid pandemic, climate change or the aging of the population. When the doors of the Hannover Messe open today, entrepreneurs, scientists and politicians will enter the fair with the knowledge that Europe faces major challenges that are intertwined in terms of impact and strategy. These tasks are too big for one country to solve alone. European cooperation is necessary.

Holland High Tech: the art of working together towards a digital and sustainable future
Together with strategic partners in Germany, the Dutch high tech sector is developing integrated value networks in Europe through international cooperation that enable energy-efficient manufacturing, maintenance and recycling of products.
Europe urgently needs to digitize and become more sustainable. Representatives of the Dutch business community Marc Hendrikse (figurehead of Holland High Tech) and Theo Henrar (FME) see the Dutch-German Innovation Pact as paving the way for closer European cooperation. To strengthen the cooperation between Germany and the Netherlands, the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs & Climate Policy and the business community (FME, FIER and Smart Industry) have started two cooperation projects in the field of mobility and smart industry. These were presented today in Hall 8 at the Hannover Messe.
- Mobility
In the coming years, the Netherlands wants to work with Germany on clean and smart mobility solutions that enable the transition to a competitive, smart and climate-friendly mobility system.
- Smart Industry
One of the aims of the Smart Industry collaboration programme is to strengthen the position of the Netherlands as an innovation and technology partner of Germany. The programme also aims to contribute to accelerated digitization in industry through a German-Dutch joining of forces through strong networks, both at federal and regional level. The emphasis is on the German federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.
