Hannover Messe 2023 was a great success. The fair brought together many entrepreneurs, politicians, scientists and new ideas. The Netherlands presented itself at the fair under the title 'Integrating Industries for a Smart Sustainable Future'. With this, the Netherlands wants to show how integrated smart and sustainable solutions can be developed through close international cooperation.
In this review we highlight the following elements: four video reports from the Hannover Messe, the report of the international discussion 'Women in Tech', the Liveblog of the Hannover Messe & Hannover Messe in pictures.

Minister Mickey Adriaansens meets Dutch entrepreneurs

With her visit to the Hannover Messe 2023, Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy Micky Adriaansens committed herself to strengthening innovation in the Netherlands. “Innovation is in our blood. This is also evident here at the Hannover Messe. I am proud of the innovations of our companies in areas such as chips, hydrogen and batteries.” As far as Minister Adriaansens is concerned, cooperation in innovation with Germany is crucial for maintaining the strong position of Dutch companies in the world.

”Together with our German neighbours, we can invest more and convert knowledge into innovation and products. That is why I also speak to German entrepreneurs, knowledge institutions and politicians in Hanover.” Holland High Tech chairman Marc Hendrikse accompanied the minister in Hanover. “As a Dutch industry, we can help in the major transitions of the moment. We must show what we can do together here in Europe, including to reduce dependence on Asia and the United States. Germany and the Netherlands can work together incredibly well on this.'' FME chairman Theo Henrar is also part of the delegation and co-organizer of the Holland High Tech Pavilion at the fair. He emphasizes how important it is for Dutch industry to present itself in Germany. “We not only want to be a good trading partner, but also a good technology and innovation partner.”

Startups en scale-ups inspire

Many manufacturers were inspired by new ideas in Hall 17, where Willem Drost and Monika Sanders of psps business abroad gathered 40 startups and scale-ups in the Netherlands Innovation Square in the field of sustainability and digitization. In addition, Minister of Economic Affairs Micky Adriaansens and her colleague Mona Neubaur from North Rhine-Westphalia also visited the companies.

Every year, the Hannover Messe presents the Hermes Startup Award to a company that is no more than five years old and whose product or solution has a particularly high degree of technological innovation. The prize was awarded during the opening ceremony of the Hannover Messe. MantiSpectra, part of Holland High Tech's NL Innovation Square, won the Hermes Startup Award at the Hannover Messe in the presence of Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Digital connectivity

At least 100 Dutch companies will show their innovations at the world's largest technological industry fair, the Hannover Messe. ON2Quest director Roy van Oevelen shows his generators for nitrogen and oxygen and how his approach is changing the industry. The Holland High Tech pavilion helps him to draw attention to this. “The orange stand attracts a lot of attention.”

Bringing companies and countries together is crucial for innovation, says chairman Mark Helder of the Koninklijke Metaalunie. “The next innovation leap we are going to make will take place outside the walls of your own company. That is why we also need to be better connected digitally. In this way, our cooperation will have a huge impact in the necessary increase in our production.”

Combining the strength of German and Dutch regions

The Hannover Messe is also a combination of forces from various regions in the Netherlands and Germany, says HTSM broker Hans Brouwers van Oost NL/GO4EXPORT (Overijssel/Gelderland). Together with BOM Brabant, LIOF (Limburg), InnovationQuarter (South Holland), Horizon Flevoland and IHK Niederrhein, he brought various buses with more than 100 entrepreneurs to Hanover. They could exchange experiences among themselves, but also with the 10 companies from the region that have been at the fair all week as exhibitors. And they spoke to Secretary-General Gaastra.
