The students of Eco-Runner Team Delft can call themselves the creators of the world's most efficient hydrogen car. The car covered 2488.5 kilometers on a circuit in southern Germany.
Guinness World Record
The Eco-Runner Team Delft has created the world's fastest and most efficient hydrogen vehicle, breaking a Guinness World Record. The team covered an impressive 2,488.5km without refueling on a German track, surpassing the previous record of 2,055.7km. Their Eco-Runner hydrogen vehicle converts hydrogen into electrical energy and produces only water vapor and heat instead of harmful gases. The students spent a year working on the lightweight, UFO-like design to demonstrate to the industry the potential of sustainable transportation. Despite limited opportunities to refuel with hydrogen in the Netherlands, the team hopes their success will encourage more people to use this environmentally friendly fuel.
Showcase of sustainable technology
TU Delft students have a history of using technology to create a more sustainable world. Their previous projects include the hyperloop, a hydrogen powered aircraft and solar powered vehicles. The university's student teams have been working on hydrogen vehicles for years, with the recent record-breaking success of Eco-Runner Team Delft as proof of their dedication and innovation.
