Is your organization active in the semiconductor industry? Do you have ambitious plans to further develop and scale up this technology? And is this technology strategically important for the Netherlands and Europe? Then the interest survey for the new IPCEI on Advanced Semiconductor Technologies (IPCEI AST) is important for you. This is especially true for high-tech SMEs.
The goal of the IPCEI AST is to strengthen the Dutch and European position in the global semiconductor industry. The IPCEI AST supports the research, development, and initial application in a production environment of new generations of semiconductors, including design techniques, production technologies, and applications. This allows for the development of interconnected projects that reinforce each other and provide participants with concrete support in realizing new technical solutions and economies of scale.
This interest survey will identify which companies in the Netherlands are interested in participating in this IPCEI AST. This information will serve as input for further shaping the follow-up process.

Technologyscope
The European Member States involved, in close collaboration and through extensive consultation with the European industry, determined the most promising areas within the semiconductor industry where Europe could make a global difference. These seven technology domains will guide this interest survey and further steps.
Highly disruptive technological developments:
1. AI-chips and -accelerators
2. Photonic integrated circuits
3. Chiplets and heterogeneous integration/advanced packaging
A highly innovative boost to areas where Europe is already leading:
4. disruptive sensors for autonomy
5. Power electronics and disruptive energy-saving solutions
6. Secure communications (information protected from unauthorized access, interception, or manipulation)
7. Key enabling technologies, including production and testing machines, materials for electronic design automation (EDA)
Read a detailed description of these seven technology domains: ‘IPCEI AST -Technological Fields’.
