This innovation mission will provide you with insights into South Korea's semiconductor landscape and government strategy. South Korea is the global market leader in the development and manufacturing of memory chips. To maintain and strengthen this position, they are investing heavily in their semiconductor industry, as announced in The System Semiconductor Vision and Strategy. A $422 billion investment package will be deployed through 2026 to promote and expand the value chain. This includes fabrication-free design, packaging and integration, and AI chip developments for sectors such as mobility, IoT, and the defense industry. This presents unique opportunities for Dutch companies and knowledge institutions, primarily in the areas of advanced packaging (combining multiple chips into a single unit), chip design, and next-generation semiconductor equipment.

Mission Objective

During this mission, you will gain insight into the ecosystem, innovative developments, and opportunities in the semiconductor sector. You will also explore trends and opportunities for multi-year (public-private) collaborations between knowledge institutions and companies in the field of research and development. Furthermore, the mission focuses on connecting innovative knowledge and technology from the Netherlands with market opportunities in South Korea.

For whom?

This innovation mission is intended for:

  • Entrepreneurs and professionals working on innovative solutions in the semiconductor field.
  • Industry professionals seeking opportunities for collaboration with Asian partners in general, and South Korean partners in particular.
  • Knowledge institutions and researchers who want to actively contribute to international innovation collaboration projects.

Draft program

The mission will take place during SEMICON Korea and will include the following components:

  • Visits to companies, universities, and knowledge institutions.
  • Participation in the Korea-Netherlands innovation conference.
  • Participation in several relevant program components of the SEMICON Korea trade fair, attended by key players from the Korean semiconductor ecosystem.
  • Matchmaking and networking events, including one-on-one meetings where possible.

Costs and registration

The cost of participating in the innovation mission is €250 per person, excluding VAT. Registration is open until October 17, 2025.

More detailed information about costs and registration can be found on the RVO website:
