The European Commission has launched the Energy and Raw Materials Platform to better support European companies in accessing energy and strategic raw materials. The platform plays a key role in strengthening European competitiveness and reducing strategic dependencies, particularly for sectors crucial to the energy transition and high-tech industries.
The platform brings together companies active in the supply and demand of energy products and critical raw materials. This includes raw materials for batteries, hydrogen technology, semiconductors, and other key technologies. By aggregating demand and increasing market transparency, the platform helps companies improve security of supply and forge new partnerships.
Matchmaking
A key component of the platform is its matchmaking function. This connects buyers, suppliers, investors, and logistics providers based on their specified needs and offerings. The first matchmaking round is scheduled for March 2026 and will initially focus on strategic raw materials essential for European industry and the energy transition.
The matchmaking process does not directly lead to contracts, but facilitates targeted discussions and collaboration opportunities, for example, joint purchasing, long-term supply agreements, or investment projects. This offers opportunities for Dutch high-tech companies to strengthen their position in international value chains.
Companies can now register to participate in the Energy and Raw Materials Platform and the upcoming matchmaking round. Timely registration is essential to optimally utilize the platform's capabilities.
