On 5 January 2026, the very first SME Defence Call will open. This call invites high-tech entrepreneurs to work together with research organisations on innovative projects for dual-use applications within the NLD areas of space, quantum and smart materials, as defined in the Defence Strategy for Industry and Innovation 2025–2029. The SME Defence Call has been developed by Holland High Tech in collaboration with the Ministries of Defence and Economic Affairs. The total budget available for the call is €5 million.
This new call marks an important step in strengthening collaboration between Defence and the Dutch high-tech sector. It supports industrial research that not only enhances the knowledge base and R&D capacity of SMEs, but also contributes to the technological autonomy and security of the Netherlands and Europe.
The full call text and detailed scope of the requested innovations will be published in mid-November.
