Earlier this year, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom agreed to collaborate more closely on technological innovation. This will ensure Europe remains innovative, competitive, and secure. Dutch companies and knowledge institutions from our high-tech ecosystem will therefore embark on an innovation mission to London, focusing on AI, integrated photonics, and neuromorphic computing technology. Minister Karremans (Economic Affairs) will participate in this visit on Monday 10 November and Tuesday 11 November 2025, and will sign a British-Dutch partnership.

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Starmer and Prime Minister Schoof jointly announced plans to enter into British-Dutch cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, semiconductors, photonics and new computer technologies.

During the innovation mission, Minister Karremans and British Minister Kanishka Narayan (AI, Technology and Semiconductors) will officially sign this partnership. Both countries will organize a joint seminar, roundtables, and meetings at the Royal Society in London, with more than one hundred companies, knowledge institutions, and government bodies from both countries participating. These are suppliers and end-users focusing on AI, integrated photonics, and neuromorphic computing technology from the perspective of materials, devices, circuit design, hardware, architecture, algorithms, or applications.

Vincent Karremans, Minister of Economic Affairs:

Computing power is increasingly relevant for all kinds of technologies that companies can use and in industrial processes. That's why, for example, we're building an AI factory in the Netherlands. We're also taking the lead in collaborating with other countries on technologies like AI, photonics, and quantum, and on developing innovations in chip design, stacking, and packaging. The United Kingdom is a logical European partner for closer collaboration in this regard. This way, we stimulate entrepreneurship in both countries and reduce unwanted dependence on technologies, (semi-)finished products, or raw materials.
