In its pursuit of innovation and strategic autonomy, Defense wants to invite the Dutch business community, knowledge institutions and clients to collaborate with us in an innovative way and to propose promising ideas. The importance of this initiative is that all parties who have relevant knowledge about materials can share this in a safe and open setting. Parties that can provide capacity are encouraged to participate. The first industry day is specifically aimed at Multifunctional composites for military use and will take place on April 19, 2024 at the Major General Koot Barracks in Stroe.

For the Ministry of Defense, composite materials are one of the innovation spearheads for promising applications, for example on ships and in vehicles. Together we want to take up the challenge of finding innovative solutions for the following topics:

1. Multifunctional composites for military use
2. Smart materials
3. Additive Manufacturing Techniques

There is also great interest within Defense to identify innovations in the following topics:

• Lightweight materials and strong, multifunctional constructions
• Fire-resistant composites that are non-toxic
• Composites with sensors for monitoring
• Bio-composites (sustainability, recycling)
• Innovative production methods to process and repair composites
