Prof. Dr ir. Bram Nauta has received the highest distinction in Dutch science, the NWO Stevin Prize. The researcher receives the premium for his outstanding, pioneering and inspiring work. The Stevin Prize primarily honors the social impact. With this achievement, Nauta will receive 1.5 million euros to spend on scientific research and activities related to knowledge utilisation.
About Prof. dr. ir. Bram Nauta
Bram Nauta (1964), Professor of Integrated Circuit Design at the University of Twente, is a world-renowned expert in designing circuits on chips. His innovations have had a direct impact on commonly used electronics. Smartphones became more compact and microelectronics became more energy efficient thanks to innovations such as the 'Nauta circuit'. His pioneering work also laid the foundation for wireless communication techniques such as 5G, WiFi and Bluetooth.

The aim of the NWO Stevin Prize is to stimulate and value knowledge utilisation. The premium is a token of honor and a one-off and unique prize. The premium is awarded to a researcher who has achieved exceptional success in the field of knowledge utilization for society. By knowledge utilisation, NWO understands the application of knowledge through productive interactions with an interested target group in order to create social – including economic – value.
