NWO is developing four new calls for proposals within the Mission main line of the NWO-KIC programme. These calls will fund impact-driven research by consortia of knowledge institutions, companies and social organisations focused on various social challenges.
Themes such as collaborative business models, (opto)mechatronics, artificial intelligence in agriculture, horticulture, water and food and critical raw materials in the energy transition are being developed into a Call for proposals.
In order to inform potential applicants and other interested parties of upcoming calls in a timely manner, NWO is publishing the themes that will be programmed. These calls are expected to open in the autumn of 2025. 7 million euros in funding will be available per call. In addition, a percentage in kind or cash co-funding will be requested. Further information for each call will be available in the calls for proposals.
Knowledge and Innovation Agendas
Every year, NWO develops several thematic programmes under the Mission heading for consortia working on innovative research for societal challenges. The themes are derived from the mission-driven innovation policy of the Dutch government, in particular the Knowledge and Innovation Agendas (KIAs) that have been drawn up as part of this policy.
The eight KIAs are as follows:
- Climate and Energy
- Circular Economy
- Agriculture, Water, Food
- Health & Care
- Security
- Key Technologies
- Digitalisation
- Social Earning Capacity.
NWO-KIC: innovation programmes in the knowledge and innovation covenant
NWO develops innovation programmes aimed at the social challenges facing the Netherlands with the goal of realising impact for the economy, people and society. These programmes emphasise collaboration between knowledge institutions, private parties and the government. The results will therefore contribute to the realisation of economic opportunities. It is therefore essential that private parties invest in each research project.
