This year's annual National Circular Economy Conference (NCCE) focused on scaling up and accelerating towards a fully circular economy in 2050. During the plenary program, the biggest challenges and opportunities were discussed with a speech by Her Majesty Queen Máxima. In addition to the plenary program, there were substantive sessions on various circular topics. On behalf of Holland High Tech, Koen Vermeer, Program Manager, participated in the table session 'Circularity of critical raw materials' and presented the transition agenda in progress and framed it within the playing field of instruments and measures required for the circular transition and the national raw materials strategy.
Table session 'Circularity of critical raw materials'
In the table session, together with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, FME and Royal Metal Union, we presented the plans for the coming years for an integrated approach to critical raw materials and the circular economy.
With Diana de Graaf as moderator on behalf of FME and Koninklijke Metaalunie, those present were asked for active participation to enrich and deepen the program. More concrete savings goals such as the climate approach and attention to quantification of the risks due to (lack of) critical raw materials were mentioned. It was also argued that there should be room for innovative, perhaps unknown technologies that can provide solutions.
Circular Awards 2024 and the Circular Hero 2024
The winners of the Circular Awards 2024 were also announced during the National Circular Conference in Nijmegen. Buurman, PHA2USE and Wood Loop Foundation won prizes. Sabine Biesheuvel, director of BlueCity Rotterdam, has been chosen as Circular Hero 2024.
