This research, conducted by TNO in collaboration with partners Siemens and SPIE, focuses on improving cybersecurity in operational networks (OT) in the Netherlands. The goal is to develop new anomaly detection technologies that can more effectively detect attacks in OT networks.

The research includes a thorough exploration of contemporary attack techniques and threat scenarios, identifying relevant detection algorithms and methods. An environment will then be analyzed and set up to perform simulated attacks, collecting data and creating and analyzing proof-of-concept attack scenarios.

The result of this research will be a prototype (software) that tests and validates selected methodologies with realistic data. This will lead to improved detection of anomalies in OT networks and increased security against cyber attacks.

The impact of this research on the high-tech & materials top sector in the Netherlands is significant. By strengthening cybersecurity in operational networks, companies in this sector will be better protected against cyber threats, strengthening their competitive position and increasing confidence in the Netherlands as a high-tech hub. This contributes to growth and innovation within the Dutch high-tech & materials top sector and promotes the country's economic development.
