The board of the High Tech NL Association has appointed Eric-Mark Huitema as the new general director effective 04 November. He succeeds Willem Endhoven, who, after ten years of leading the association, is set to enjoy his well-deserved 'semi-retirement.'
Eric-Mark Huitema brings broad international experience as CEO, Director-General, and Managing Director in sectors such as automotive, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), electromobility, quantum computing, IT services, and the semiconductor industry. With a technical background from TU Delft and further education in strategy and dealmaking at INSEAD, he possesses deep strategic and technological expertise.
His eighteen years at IBM, where he led AI and IoT initiatives in the transport and infrastructure sector, shaped him into a hands-on leader with a unique vision for digitization and innovation in rapidly changing markets. As former Director-General of
ACEA in Brussels, he led global initiatives for sustainable mobility and modernizing
organizations within the high-tech and automotive sectors.
Paul van Attekum, Chairman of the Board of High Tech NL, expressed his appreciation for the outgoing general director’s contributions:
Finding a successor for Willem was a considerable challenge. His extensive knowledge, unwavering dedication, and the many doors he opened have been invaluable to our association's growth. Given our trajectory, we are confident that Eric-Mark, with his experience, is the ideal person to lead High Tech
NL to the next level."
Eric-Mark Huitema looks forward to his new role and the future of the Dutch high-tech sector:
I am excited to build on the strong foundation laid and to apply my skills and vision to realize the ambitious goals of High Tech NL. My goal is to make High Tech NL the primary point of contact and gathering place for the Dutch high-tech industry. This means creating a network centered on collaboration and innovation, ensuring that the Netherlands is recognized internationally as a high-tech leader.” He adds, “The Netherlands holds a leading position in the high-tech sector, and as an association, we aim to strengthen and promote this position worldwide.”
