Physics with Industry is a workshop that focuses on coming up with innovative solutions for scientifically challenging and commercial business cases. NWO has been organizing this workshop together with the Lorentz Center since 2010. Registration for participants will open in August. You can submit a business case until May 17.

Purpose

The aim of this workshop is to stimulate collaboration and knowledge exchange between science and business. Scientists and researchers from both academia and industry work closely together for a week to find original solutions to challenging industrial problems.

The teams consist of PhD students and postdocs from research institutions and universities throughout the Netherlands. Each team has a company representative and senior researcher to ensure progress and scientific quality. Furthermore, the workshop has a scientific committee consisting of 5 Physicists from various universities and institutes in the Netherlands:

Important

The workshop takes place every year at the Lorentz Center in Leiden and the language is English.

For companies

Physics with Industry is an excellent opportunity to find a creative solution for your business case. A small financial contribution is requested for participation.

  • Small and medium-sized businesses with less than 50 FTEs contribute € 1,000 (excl. VAT)
  • Large companies with more than 50 FTEs contribute €3000 (excl. VAT)

For participants

Do you want to broaden your horizons and get to know the business world? Then this is the workshop for you! During this workshop you will become acquainted with the business world by working on a business case. You discuss the problem together with the company and get to work with your team. By collaborating with other researchers from different disciplines, you expand your network and experience working in a team with a shared mission. Participation is free, including the lunches and dinners mentioned in the program.
